Grab Bag and Other News

I had originally planned to take a day off work and have a huge "moving sale" this weekend. Then, the more I thought about it, and looked around, I realized the little bit of stuff that I have is junk! Who's going to want to buy this stuff?? I have very few pieces of furniture that would even be worth selling, and I'd be lucky to get 10 bucks out of 'em. And... I HATE to yard sale.

So, just getting to the mindset that I would NOT yard sale literally lifted a weight off my shoulders. I usually work better under pressure, but I gotta tell ya, that was a little bit too much. At the rate I'm going I would have been ready for a yard sale...maybe next year.

So, I decided to donate... EVERYTHING. Of course, I will keep my bedroom furniture and a few other pieces, along with my and the kids' clothes, personal items, a few toys, etc... BUT... most everything else will be GONE within the next week (hopefully sooner). If I know people who can use something I have, I will gladly give it to them. So, I decided to get the word out. I wanted to "advertise" on facebook, but wasn't sure how to word it. Everything I had written sounded like I wanted someone to burglarize my house. LOL So, after asking my wonderful friend, Heather, for a good wording, she came up with Grab Bag. PERFECT!!

My house is like a grab bag of sorts. A few of my son's friends have already plundered and looted my "le nerd" stash as it was called by one. My niece has made a trip through already, as well. Sooo, hopefully I won't have to make too many trips to the goodwill. ;)

And in Other News....

If you didn't already know, I live in Virginia, where earlier this year a tornado hit. I was lucky and didn't experience any damage like other areas around me did. But, it was the first time in the 20ish years that I've lived here that I have ever heard the emergency sirens go off on a day other than testing day. So, it was a big deal.

Then, today... an EARTHQUAKE??? What the hell is going on??? I know it's a couple of hundred miles from me, BUT, my mom felt it... my daughter and her entire school felt it. I did not however. But... that's just CRAZY!

I know the general area where the earthquake originated, but have never been there. And I hope everyone there is ok.

*hops up on my soap box*
What really pisses me off though is how a lot of people thought the entire eastern United States was over-reacting to it. Listen here people... We are still shell shocked from tornadoes... some have dealt with hurricanes, and then we get hit with an earthquake?? That's a bit much. Have some freaking humanity and TRY to understand that not everyone is accustom to these kind of occurrences. Thankyouverymuch.
*hops down from my soap box*

Ok, I feel better now. Where was I? Don't get me wrong, I can cut up and have a laugh with the best of 'em, but a little decorum is all I'm asking for. Sheeesh. (Note to my friend: She knows who she is... no, my dear, your funny pic didn't offend me. ;) I saw it earlier and thought it was funny. Love ya!!)

Anyhooooo... I'm off to throw some more stuff in boxes. Whoopee... joy joy. NOT. Wanna help??

  1. Just as a side note... the rant above was due to some stupid comments I made the mistake of witnessing on twitter. It is nothing anyone said or did to me. :) Just wanted to clarify.
