10 Thoughts for Tuesday ~ 9/4/12

1.  Ok, so it's almost 1 a.m. but it is technically Tuesday, and since the insomnia is rearing it's ugly head... I may as well vent... err whine... err write.

2. It's been a while since my last post...again. And as usual, I have no good reason or excuse. Busy, tired, blah blah blah. Make up one if you like.

3.  My sister and her family have moved back home from Kansas. Their military life is coming to a close.  I can't begin to explain how happy I am to have them back here!

4.  Work is... well... work. It's still busy. And I'm still moody about it. 'Nuff said.

5.  My car is trying to push me over the edge. Not literally, of course. I have had it worked on at least twice in the past month, and it is going back in the shop tomorrow. It's a good thing I skipped paying the cell phone bill and my rent so I can get my car fixed... so I can go back and forth to work... so I can pay the cell phone bill... and pay rent... and get my car fixed.  (See the never-ending cycle going here?)

6.  I've been in a funk lately. I know, I know... what else is new? I can't even pinpoint one specific reason for my funk. It just seems to be a culmination of many, many things.... and people. But... whatever. I don't wanna go into details. That would just be a whiny/venting blog.

7.  Not sure if I mentioned before that my camera was broken. If I didn't... it is. I finally sent it off for repair, and have yet to hear anything about it. So, I've been borrowing cameras from work. Not that I mind. We have some pretty cool cameras... but, I do miss mine.

8.  Hm.. I'm gonna go there anyway. Do you ever feel used, abused, and disrespected? That kind of sums up #6. Oh, and let's add failure, door mat, (wait, that's the same as used, abused, and disrespected), and unappreciated. Ok, I'm going to stop now.

9.  But, ya know what... the thing that really chaps my arse is when people think they are helping me by pointing out previously mentioned negativities. Not that they do it intentionally... but, I just really wish some people would mind their own business and leave mine alone, because they don't know shit. I give myself enough grief without them adding to it and re-affirming what I already know.  Thankyouverymuch.

10.  What I need is a break. ONE day (ok, maybe two) where I can just be truly ALONE.  And not have to worry about and/or do anything for anyone but ME.  Hmph. Yeah... never gonna happen. Nice thought though, isn't it?  Maybe I can dream of having that. Until next time...G'night.

10 Thoughts for Tuesday ~ On Wednesday

1.  Yes, I missed Tuesday...again. My days are blurring, hectic, and I'm just downright tired. That's a good enough excuse, right?

2.  From my last blog, you know, my sister is home. It's awesome. I've missed her soooo much. We've been spending some much needed time together this week, and I've loved every second of it!

3. My niece and my sister's cat are staying with us. That has also been awesome! We had a girls' night watching chick flicks and painting nails last night. And Meeko (the cat) had pretty much taken over as supreme king in the house. Gah I love that cat. He's still a little wary of us (and the dogs) but he's pretty much whipping everyone into shape.

4. Meeko has also been sleeping with me some. I made the comment that I now had a male in my bed. I'm pretty sure that makes me one step closer to becoming a crazy cat lady.  Just sayin'.

5.  In the craziness that was the "desk incident" (see previous blog) I discovered that my sister wasn't the only injured party. My camera... my Nikon... the one I use for work... also suffered. It's broken. So, I had been trying to decide what to do about it.  I stripped it down (removed the lens, strap, etc) to get it ready to ship for repair, when my boss noticed it on my desk. I explained what had happened to it and he said he would pay to have it fixed since I use it for work. How awesome is that?? Whew. That took a load off my mind.

6.  I got some baby time in on Monday (as well as Sunday). Miss Thang is itching to go see him again, so we may have to make another visit to get out baby cuddles in. He's just tooooo precious to not want to hold. Oh, and I have changed my title to Fairy God-Mimi. I figured there were probably a few in line to want to be the "god-mother" (fairy or otherwise), so I'm good with being the back up Mimi.

7.  Speaking of Miss Thang... back at the end of the school year, she was asked to participate in a "chorus" type thing right before the beginning of the upcoming school year. Of course, I said yes. She loves to sing. Well.... she had practice Monday and Tuesday. THEN, I find out this "chorus" thing... is a FLASH MOB!!! I wanted to watch it soooo bad.... but, it was during a faculty meeting and it would've been a little suspicious with a bunch of parents standing around. So, I didn't get to see it. She said she thought it turned out great though. She said "We sounded really good, Mom!" I'm sure you did baby!  There were about 60 kids from across the school district. They gave them all t-shirts representing the high school and their corresponding graduation year. That's when we realized, she'll graduate in 2020. That's kinda cool, huh?

8.  The kids go back to school next week. I'm not sure if I'm excited, apprehensive, or just on the fence completely about it. It seems the summer has flown by. It always does, though, doesn't it?

9.  I have another "new" desk now. I've had two since the "desk incident"... this one is much bigger than the other one, which is good... but there still aren't any drawers. And I'm really not used to having an actual keyboard drawer. But, it's all good. My bro-in-law (who just so happens to love woodworking) said he would build me a desk. So, I will be researching and getting ideas for my awesome desk he'll make.

10.  I feel like such an old person. I went to sleep at 9 the other night. Barely stayed awake through a movie and manicures last night, and now I'm about to fall over at 10:30. I guess it's a good point to say... until next time friends... Good night!

Arrivals and Other Craziness

So, it's been a while...again. Baseball and tournament season is finally wrapping up, so I am beginning to see the light of day once more.

I have no idea what has been going on to blog about before this weekend, so I'll just go with that. And what a doozy it's been!

Let's see... Well, my sister has finally moved back home!! That is big, major news around here. Her hubby was medically retired from the Army, and they've moved back to Tennessee. Her journey here was a doozy, too.

As with the military, you don't know when you are coming home until they say you can go home. So, everyone had been sitting on pins and needles waiting for all of the paperwork and okays to be done.  When we finally got a date, they had to arrange everything.  Not to mention, they don't have a house.  Anyway, they packed up, made their painful and emotional farewells to their military family and friends, and then, of course, all of their furniture wouldn't fit into the trucks. So, my sister had to give away a lot of her stuff. (I can feel her pain since I just downsized and gave away or trashed 80% of my belongings less than a year ago.)  They start off on their trip, only for my sister's truck's air conditioning to stop working. They were in Kansas... it's like a million degrees out there. In turn, my sister's cat got overheated and got sick IN THE TRUCK. Needless to say, the trip didn't start off well. After a considerable delay, they get on the road only to have to stop at a hotel about 2 1/2 hours away from their first stop. Exhaustion had set in by then.

So, then, they travelled, made it to their first stop for a family visit, then got back on the road.  Apparently they misjudged the timing (stops for animal potty breaks, time zone differences, etc) and my sister texted me at 6:30 Saturday morning.  "We'll be there in 30 minutes. I need breakfast!" was the jist of it. So, at 6:45 I was up inhaling coffee and making bacon.

I was so happy to see half of the wagon train roll in front of the house!! They are FINALLY home!!!

In the meantime... my bff's daughter had been having pain and had to go to the hospital to be checked out by the ob unit. Her baby's due date was set for this coming week, but her doctor had said she could go at any time. I couldn't go with them since my sis and her family had just gotten here. They sent her home and said she would probably be back later in the night.

I was so exhausted from the day's happenings that I crashed and became comatose about 9:45 last night.
I woke this morning in a panic and checked my phone. There was a text from the bff, sent at almost 5 am. She was admitted, and at 7 cm. It was now after 8:00 am and I'm thinking "Crap!! I've slept through it all!!!" I finally text the bff's other daughter and sure enough... she'd had the baby at 8:07! So, I rushed and got ready and headed out to the hospital. I took a good 136 pictures. I got some baby cuddles in. Then we came home. I have dubbed myself the baby's Fairy God-Mimi. I'm sure there would be a long line of "god-mother" potentials, so I'll just be the back-up grandmother. Good idea, right?

My sis and her hubby came by and she was using my computer.

Backstory... Miss Thang kicked the brace loose on my desk a few days ago. I was hoping it would hold for a little while....

Apparently, not. We were all downstairs when we hear this HUGE crash and my sister screaming. I immediately imagined her falling down the stairs. And then the screaming stopped. Suddenly. Which made me think "OH SHIT, she's dead!" I jumped up to run to the stairs, and you know how cartoons show someone running but their feet aren't going anywhere... yeah, that's kinda what happened. My feet were sliding but yet my upper body was still going... so I almost ended up head first into the wall, table, and mirror. I caught myself, though.

I get to the bottom of the stairs and Shari is literally holding half of my desk up. By this point, she is laughing hysterically. Thanks sis for saving my monitor!! But, in the process, it scratched her leg up... and my camera hit the floor. I thought the camera was ok and didn't think about it again, until I got back to the hospital to take more baby  pictures and the darn thing wouldn't work.

My sister just texted me and said "I give up. A tv just fell on my  head."

Sigh. I think we need a vacation.

Until next time friends!

10 Thoughts for Tuesday... What? It's Wednesday??

1. Well, crap. I meant to do this yesterday. Where did yesterday go? Apparently I'm losing my mind (along with my equilibrium, youthful courage, and a few other things).

2. So it was Wing Wednesday again (and I still forgot it wasn't Tuesday *shaking head*). The precious and Ging keep telling me I need to go to Wing Wednesday's more often because there are actual men there. Not pretend men in books, not made up men in movies or tv shows. Why this is any different is beyond me. It's not like I have the courage to talk to any of them... especially with my children there. Even if I had liquid courage (which I do not partake of with my kids around), I don't think I could just walk up to a guy and start flirting. I'm just sad.

3. I will, however, find cute guys and imagine all sorts of wonderful "fantasy" scenarios. Get your mind outta the gutter... ok, well, maybe some like those too. For example... tonight, I'm pretty sure I found 50 shades of grey. *sigh* Oh, but he was gorgeous.

4. I need a second to compose myself......
.................
.................
Dammit... The precious just texted me to inform me that he has a girlfriend. Figures.

5.  Ok. Whew. Anyhoooooo.... (Back to the boring stuff).... Today is the last official day I'm supposed to wear the bandage on my foot. It still aches like the dickens, but at least I can walk on it better... and the soreness is gone from my fall. Until I sit on my bruised butt, that is.

6. Oh and just to prove how much of a klutz I am... I tripped walking up the stairs earlier. Now that takes talent!

7.  Miss Thang is headed off to camp for a few days. She's sooooo my sister's niece. She has been packing since Monday and has gone over her list a hundred times. Be proud seester. She is yours.

8. In the car, on our way home this evening, one of Miss Thang's favorite songs came on the radio. She starts belting it out with the radio... as soon as I so much as move my lips to mouth the words (not even sing) she says "NOOO MOM... don't sing in the car! You can't sing in the car! It's embarrassing!" Hmmph. Kids.

9. We're supposed to be having a major heat wave the next few days. I don't know if I can handle it. Although... I'm pretty sure there was an episode of Hart Of Dixie where people went crazy during a heat wave.... that might not be so bad. Hmmmmm.

10. In other news... My sister and her family will be moving home in a few short weeks! I soooo can't wait. I haven't seen them in over a year. Her Packapalooza has begun and I'm not there to help her. I hope some of her Army family steps in to help. The twins will be reunited once again!!!!

Until next time friends!

The Klutz Strikes Again... *dun dun dun*

So, if you remember from my last post, I was going out. Yep, I went out. And had a blast. I took the $20 my boss gave me and came back with over half it. Yep... I've still got it. Actually, I've just got generous friends. Big difference.

Anyway, here's a lesson for you. If you are prone to accidents (as I am) do not wear cute shoes. (My cousin, Missy, is gasping in horror right now, I'm sure.) I wore cute sandal type flip flops when I went out and apparently my feet did not appreciate it. (Nor did any men I may or may not have wanted to impress.) Anyway, I woke up the next morning with some major pain in my right foot.

My right foot being the one I thought I had broken last year (and never went to the doctor about). Great. That's all I need. Well, it felt like a stone bruise, so I just sucked it up and dealt with it... for over a week. The stupid thing wasn't getting any better, and by Wednesday of this week my toes were losing feeling and the pain was radiating up my leg. *sigh* So, out of desperation (or just because I was to the point that it was pissing me off), I went to the E.R. Three hours, one snap session on a nurse, and three x-rays later I am released with no broken bones, but a sprained foot. The doc said it was probably because of last year's injury (which the doc said sounded like I had torn something in my foot).

Did I fall this time? No. Apparently, I can't walk... in cute shoes. Those who know me already know that I can't walk barefoot, let alone in cute shoes.

So, anyway... two days later...

I overslept Friday morning. My daughter yelled upstairs and woke me up 20 minutes before we had to walk out the door. In my half-asleep, semi-comatose, pre-caffeinated state, I quickly head down the stairs... with my foot still wrapped for the sprain and.... yep, you guessed it... I slipped (ace bandages and hardwood stairs do not get along) and fell down the stairs. We knew it was going to happen at some point or another. And there we go.

My daughter was in her room (across from the bottom of the stairs) and had the joy of watching me bounce down the stairs. I guess it must've looked pretty humorous. I haven't seen my step-dad move that fast in a long time when he came around the corner to rescue me.

I don't think I broke anything. All body parts are moving, but I am bruised and sore as crap today. I bruised my back along a rib or two, and my butt has a huge bruise spreading across the majority of it.

Now I not only have a bandaged right foot, I can't sit on my left butt cheek or lean against anything because of the bruises. *sigh* Could I have a bubble to live in now?

Until next time friends... Walk softly and hold on to the hand rails! ;)

If You Don't Have Anything Nice To Say...

Don't say anything at all.  Isn't that how the saying goes? I have been trying reeeally hard to do that lately, but it isn't going so well. Some days I am withdrawn (and succeeding at keeping my mouth shut), but the majority of the time, lately, I have been downright mean and ugly... to everyone.

I don't know what is wrong with me... but there is obviously a major planetary shift or some universal disturbance to affect me in such a way. (Yes there is! Don't question me!) People are avoiding me. I can't say I blame them. And those who can't avoid me, well, to them... sorry.

So, anyway, I have heard soooo many people talking about Fifty Shades of Grey. I can't afford to buy the books, but my sis sent me a copy of it. I figured I'd read it and see what the fuss is about.

Now, I'm not saying I love this book...  but I couldn't put it down. I read it in one day. I do have a warning for anyone who hasn't read it yet though.  These books should NOT be read by any self-respecting, SINGLE female who has absolutely no chance what-so-ever of having sex. (i.e. ME)

This just added to my bitchiness this week. I even had bad dreams. You know those "symbolic" dreams. About snakes. Which just happens to mean sexual frustration. Yeah. In the dream there were snakes chasing me and NO ONE would help me kill them. See my point here? I must be some kind of masochist to keep reading these books. What. The. Hell. *sigh*

The book is an erotica type book with BDSM. Ok, I was thoroughly stressed out through a lot of this book, simply because I am too independent of a woman to even consider the whole Dominating thing. I just couldn't do it, and it thoroughly stressed me out to read about it. There were a few times I wasn't sure I could even finish the book. Just sayin'.

Anyway...

It has been one of those weeks (read months) that I have decided I need a girls' night out. And I will HAVE it. The precious and I and Ging are planning to see this great 80's cover band. Last time I saw them, the only thing missing was some bottles of Boone's Farm. *giggle*

The boss asked me today if I wanted to work this weekend. I said, "Ummm... NO." Then the co-worker says "If you will work one day, I will work the other. You take Sunday and I will take Saturday." I say "Um... no, not Sunday. I plan on being hungover on Sunday." The boss perked up on that statement. He even gave me drinking money. It's not even Saturday night yet and people are already buying me drinks. This HAS to be a good night. Right? (I hope.)

Until next time friends... Cheers!

It's Been A Rough Day

Is it Friday the 13th? Is it a full moon? It's gotta be something. This has been just an awful day. I got up late, feeling like crap, but thinking, yay it's Friday. Until I got in my car and the stupid thing wouldn't start. My car's battery light has been coming on occasionally for the past two years, even after putting it in the shop for that several times and having multiple things "fixed" and/or replaced. So, I'm assuming it's the battery.

There are few things that really push me over the edge, but having car issues is one of them. Why, I'm not sure. It could be my "escape" being taken away. It could be all of the "help" and "opinions" I get when an issue arises. It could be that my independent, controlling self doesn't know enough on how to fix a car when something happens. Who knows. Most people think I am over-reacting... and I may be, but in my head it makes sense.

I have also learned a few things today. There are three types of people in this world. There are those when told about a problem, my car for example, who will be indifferent to the situation. Then there are those who will say "What can I do to help." Then there are those who flat out refuse to help. Of course there are varying degrees to all three. For example, the ones who are indifferent may or may not be persuaded to act. Those who want to help can possibly help "too much" or "not enough". And then the ones who flat out refuse... well, yeah, they're just assholes. I know some of all of these mentioned.

So, anyway, my step-dad and I couldn't find anyone to get a boost for my car, so we hooked up the battery charger. I call the office and let the co-peep know what's going on and say "If I can't get it boosted or going, I may need you to come get me." This is where the asshole type comes out. He (I'm sure it was meant jokingly) says "I'm not coming to get your ass." Wrong time, wrong place, and definitely WRONG mood to say that to me. By the time I had gotten off the phone with him, I was resigned to not go to work today and just go back to bed. Screw 'em... screw 'em all!!!

So, then I'm deliberating on what needs to be done. If it is the battery, I'm gonna need my paycheck to go buy a new one. So, I call the boss man. Of course, he is sympathetic, and comes to get me to take me to work. I get my paycheck and he offers to take me home and try to help me get my car started.

By this point, the car has been on a charger for several hours.  Still... nothing. The car won't start. They think it's not the battery after all. My brain is in overdrive thinking of all the worst case scenarios. How long will I be without a car? How much is this going to cost? How am I going to get it to a garage? So, I start a complete mental shut down. I throw in the towel and told the boss man we should just call it a day. He agreed and told me not to worry about going back to work, that I needed to get the problem straightened out.

I just want to go to bed. And sleep. And forget cars and work and money.

My step-dad is relentless, though. He gets the owner's manual and starts trying to figure it out. Luckily, his theories are correct. A fuse is blown. (I totally just said that in A Christmas Story voice.) He rigged it enough to get it started and I go straight to the auto parts store where I buy fuses (twice, since I got the wrong size the first time) and fixed the car... by myself... in the parking lot. Which, by the way, only cost a little over $4 to fix.

I go back to work and have another battle with the co-peep on my "womanly" emotions and ways. I will hurt him one day. I'm just sayin.

All worked out. And yet I was still frustrated and aggravated. My mood was calming a little. But not completely. So, I finally go to pick up the little man at his dad's. I pick some raspberries while I was there. And that moment was the most calm I had been all day.

Then I had to fight traffic back home. Blah. And if there is ONE person on the road who is actually doing the speed limit or FIVE BELOW it... I will and DID get stuck behind them. Sigh.

I came home... and went to bed. I had a couple of hours worth of sleep. I shared my berries with mom. I'm blindly eating them outta the bag, when I notice something wiggle in my mouth. Oh. My. God. I just ate a worm. And there was no tequila to be found. Bleeeech. I start gagging and spitting everywhere.

Later, I'm talking to the precious... catching up since we haven't seen each other all week... when I tell her the story about "topping off the worst day ever" with the worm eating. And THEEEN a freaking earth worm crawls through my toes. What. The. Heck.

That's it. I'm going to bed. I'm going to sleep until I can't sleep anymore. Then I'm going to get up and hope tomorrow is better than today was.

Now, if I could just get the kids to sleep. Sigh.

Until next time friends... g'night!
