I am officially moved in at my mom's house! Yay! It was a long, exhausting, and almost painful process, but it's done.
I feel bad for the trash guys that have to load up Mt. Trashmore. There was sooo much stuff! And I also hope that the Goodwill makes a fortune off of my junk. :)
So, now that I'm back on this street, I've made a few observations.
1. There are tons more squirrels on this street than there were on mine. You'd think we moved cities away instead of a few blocks. The daughter has taken up naming the squirrels and talking to them like they are pets. *blank look* Ok, whatever makes her happy.
2. My neighbors are awesome! Ok, so some of them we've known for years and years (mom has been in this house for 20 years now). Our next door neighbor is like the lovable aunt everyone wants to chat and hang out with. She let me borrow a window air conditioner for the upstairs. Awesome!!! Now I won't be sweating all night while sitting in front of 3 fans.
3. There are a couple of other neighbors (whom I don't really know) who are obviously friends. Every morning I watch the people from a few doors down leave there house and walk to the house in front of mine and let themselves in. Now, normally, that wouldn't bother me. People walk in and out of my house all hours of the day and night. I guess I didn't realize other people were like that too. lol
4. I now have not one but two porches to sit and relax on in the evening. Of course, the back porch is only ok for a little while... that is until the mosquitoes from mom's pond start to devour you alive. I think we should put frogs in the pond... complete with lily pads for them to sit on. I'm having an oasis dream right now, aren't I?
5. At my old house, if you were outside you could hear the train (which is about a mile or two away)... Now that I'm here, it's closer, but I don't really notice the train as much as I do the ambulances and fire trucks coming from the Life Saving Crew at the end of the street. I guess I'll just have to get used to that again.
6. I thought being at family headquarters I would see more of my family, i.e. sisters, brother, nieces... but so far... I haven't. Hint hint fam... get ya butts over here and visit occasionally!
So, that's all I've got at the moment. I'm off to get ready for work. It's Friday and there's a long weekend on the horizon taunting me with unpacking and stuff to do. But, there will be some relaxing thrown in there at some point. I promise you that! Have a great weekend!!
You are such a witty writer Sheila. I would love to see pictures of your new world and surroundings.
ReplyDeleteWizKid is like your daughter as well, he names everything, even inanimate objects and random things he finds cute.
I admit he gets it from me. Well when I was a kid. :)
Glad you are getting settled lady!
